Twice I have come close to a double eagle. The first was at Singing Hills Golf Club in San Diego 1975. During my round in the individual competition for Western League, I almost made double eagle. The ball came to rest 3 inches from the cup. It appeared to be going in and it looked like it was leaning on the flagstick from my point of view, but once I got to the green, it was about 3 inches sort. It looked as if the ball was going in from the intended ball path, but just ran out of speed. The second came during a round at Mt. Woodson Golf Club with my son Adam in 1999. On the 4th hole (par 5), The ball was also going in and came up 2 inches short. It is a nine hole par 3 & 4 course and we played 8 times. We paid the all day fee, which was about $5 and it took us all day to play that many holes. |
